The Lean Construction Institute

invite you to participate in a

Formation Meeting for the LCI Colorado Chapter

Formation Meetings help define
:

1. Why should there be an LCI Chapter in this region?
2. What are appropriate goals and objectives for the LCI Chapter?
3. What LCI Chapter activities and events are needed to achieve these goals and objectives?
4. What are the metrics to determine whether an LCI Chapter has met its goals and objectives?

A Formation Meeting on Feb 26, 2010 with 14 participants began addressing Questions 1 and 2. This meeting will use the results from the Feb 26th meeting to address Questions 3 and 4.

Meeting Agenda:

- Review, edit, and prioritize goals and objectives developed during the Feb 26th Formation Meeting
- Develop a plan (i.e., the LCI Chapter's activities and events) for achieving top goals and objectives
- Develop metrics to measure the achievement of realistic goals and objectives

Meeting Details:

Steve Knapp of Lean Project Consulting will help facilitate this meeting. Although this meeting is free for all attendees, please register for this event through this Eventbrite webpage to help us get a head count so Boulder Associates can order enough refreshments for the group.

After the Meeting:

We will arrange an Organization Meeting for people who want to volunteer to help manage and administrate the LCI Colorado Chapter. During that meeting, LCI will provide an outline of chapter responsibilities, and attendees will sort out who will become Core Group Members, Committee Chairs, and Committee Members to manage those responsibilities. Then, the newly formed Core Group will use the deliverables from this Formation Meeting as a starting point for organizing LCI Colorado's activities and events.

LCI Colorado Community of Practice

The Lean Construction Institute (LCI), a non-profit research organization, was founded in August 1997. LCI's purpose is to develop and disseminate new knowledge regarding the management of work in design, engineering and construction for capital facilities. LCI has developed the Lean Project Delivery System© (LPDS), and the Last Planner® System of production control. Lean Construction is a production management-based approach to project delivery - a new way to design and build capital facilities. Lean production management has caused a revolution in manufacturing design, supply and assembly. Applied to construction, Lean changes the way work is done throughout the delivery process. Lean Construction extends from the objectives of a lean production system - maximize value and minimize waste - to specific techniques and applies them in a new project delivery process extending from project definition through design, supply and assembly.

The Colorado Community of Practice of LCI  provides local lean support to owners, architects and designers, engineers, contractors, specialty contractors, and suppliers.  We invite owners and project delivery team members to meet together as a local user group to learn, share, and develop a lean community in Colorado. As a regional forum for conversations among practitioners, the CoP will help create a new common sense for the AEC industry as LCI continues to build knowledge in design and construction.
